Spent grain handling systems are designed around far more than storage capacity. Material characteristics, collection methods, discharge equipment, transportation, climate, and facility layout all influence the final design. Meridian engineers each spent grain silo to integrate with the operational requirements of the brewery or distillery.
Depending on the application, silo designs may incorporate custom fill arrangements, hopper geometries matched to material flow characteristics, insulated wall systems for cold climates, food-grade interior coatings, and discharge systems engineered to feed the customer’s downstream equipment. Interior-welded construction eliminates exposed seams and bolts in the product contact area, while access systems, instrumentation, and loadout configurations are selected to support the way the facility operates. Overhead drive-through loadout structures and other custom structural solutions are also available where operationally beneficial.
Rather than adapting a standard silo to fit the application, Meridian develops each spent grain storage solution around the customer’s process, ensuring the storage system integrates with both current production requirements and future facility plans.
